Musical journeyman Ger Mythen is a native of Waterford. Growing up in Ireland’s oldest city exposed him to a rich history and culture going back 1100 years. Naturally, music was a big part of this and Ger had started playing gigs as a teenager by the late 1980’s. I first purchased this album on vinyl over the counter at the Dan O'Connell Hotel (Carlton, Australia) one lunchtime (do you remember, all you could get was a toasted sandwich?) as Christy sat with a few mates, yarning. He signed it 'Have a Good Brew'. Well, I've had many a good brew to these tunes and recommend them as a fun and eclectic sample of Christy's talent. To this day, songs like Sullivan's John, Shamrock Shore and Joe Hill remain favorites.
